Ingredients:

  • 1 (26 oz) bottle dry red wine ( cabernet sauvignon)
  • 1 (26 oz) bottle vodka , 100 proof (or acquavit)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 5 cloves
  • 6 cardamom seeds, crushed
  • 1 orange peel , spiral
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Directions:

  1. Combine wine, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and orange peel in saucepan. Stir to blend.
  2. Let stand 3-4 hours.
  3. Heat, but do not boil.
  4. Light with a match and pour burning into heatproof cups containing a few almonds and raisins.
