Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp clove
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice

Directions:

  1. Mix sugar , shortening and molasses add all the rest. Refrigerate 2 hours.
  2. Roll 1/4 inch thick and cut with 3 inch circle cookie cutter. Place on cookie sheet and sprinkle each cookie with sugar. Bake 10-12 minutes in 375 degree oven.
