Hungarian Cookies for Beginners

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups unsifted flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 lb margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp milk
  • 1/2 cup jam

Directions:

  1. Sift together dry ingredients.
  2. Cut in margarine as for pie crust.
  3. Add eggs, vanilla and milk, just enough to hold dough together. Do not work this dough, just blend ingredients.
  4. Roll out and cut into squares 3x3 inch, not too thin.
  5. Fill with any desired filling.
  6. Brush top with beaten egg.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until golden brown.
