Homemade Chewy Granola Bars

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups oatmeal (*)
  • 1/4-1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter, melted (i melt both butter and peanut butter together)
  • 1/4 cup syrup
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup coconut (optional)

Directions:

  1. Mix the oatmeal, brown sugar and wheat germ together.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine butter, peanut butter, syrup, and honey. Then add to oatmeal mixture.
  3. Add any or all of the optional items to your liking.
  4. Mix well, press well into a greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 20 min., or until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes and then cut into bars.
  5. *you can replace 1 cup of the oatmeal with 1/4 cup flax seed, 1/4 cup sesame seed, 1/4 cup sunflower seeds and 1/4 cup bran, or any combination!).
