Ingredients:

  • 2 package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 3/4 cup milk scalded
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • 6 or 7 cup all-purpose flour sifted

Directions:

  1. Soften yeast in water.
  2. In large mixing bowl, combine milk, sugar, salt, and salad oil. Add 2 cups of the flour; beat well.
  3. Remove from mixer; add enough remaining flour to make a moderately stiff dough.
  4. Turn out on lightly floured surface; knead till smooth and satiny, 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Cover; let rest 10 minutes. Divide into 8 balls; mound each like a bun; fold over sides and tuck in ends.
  6. Place each in a greased 5 1/2 x 3 x 2 loaf pan; butter tops generously.
  7. Cover; let double, about 45 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or till done.
