Holiday Fruit Salad

Ingredients:

  • 6 to 8 apples
  • 1 lb seedles grapes
  • 1 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Peel apples and dice into small pieces
  2. Peel oranges and dice into small pieces
  3. Place apples in a bowl and then iranges ( to prevent browning of apples )
  4. Add the grapes, (cut each in half )
  5. Add other fruit if desired: I added a basket of blueberries
  6. Open fruit cocktail and pour over fruit
  7. Toss to combine
  8. Then in a large colander, drain the liquid from the fruit
  9. Place fruit liquid , the sugar and egg yolks in a saucepan
  10. Cook and stir over medium heat until slightly thickened, about 15 minutes
  11. Cool and then mix gently into fruit
  12. Place fruit in a gallon glass jar
  13. Let chill 24 hrs before servinbg to blend flavors
  14. Will keep in refrig up to a week
  15. However if you decide to add say bananas, they will darken and get soft and the salad should be used sooner than sit in the refrigerator
