Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Cut in the shortening until mixture resembles crumbs.
  3. In a cup, thoroughly mix the beaten egg and milk.
  4. Add to the flour mixture.
  5. Stir only until the dough forms a ball, but is still sticky.
  6. Turn onto a floured surface and knead gently 10 strokes.
  7. Roll out to 3/4 inch thickness and cut with the rim of a glass that has been dipped in flour.
  8. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, touching each other.
  9. Bake at 450 deg F for 12 minutes.
  10. Brush with melted butter when hot.
