Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick (3-inch)
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle red wine

Directions:

  1. In a large pot combine water, sugar, cloves, cinnamon and raisins.
  2. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in the wine, lemon juice and orange juice.
  3. Heat through but DO NOT BOIL.
  4. Remove the cinnamon stick, ladle into cups and serve with sliced almonds and the boiled raisins.
