Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, egg and molasses.
  2. Stir in flour, spices, baking soda and baking powder.
  3. Shape into walnut size balls.
  4. Roll into granulated sugar.
  5. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.
  7. Cool.
