Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
  2. Beat butter and sugar til creamy with mixer on medium speed. Beat in egg, vanilla, and molasses. Reduce speed to low and gradually beat in flour mixture til blended.
  3. Divide dough into 3 equal pieces. Flatten into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight (til firm enough to roll).
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll 1 disk of dough 1/8" thick between 2 sheets of wax paper. Remove top sheet of paper and cut out cookies with cutters. Wrap and refrigerate trimmings. Place cookies 1" apart on ungreased large cookie sheet.
  5. Bake cookies 9-11 min or til edges begin to brown. Cool on wire rack. Repeat for leftover dough.
  6. Decorate!
  7. Store at room temp for up to 2 weeks or in freezer up to 3 months.
