Family Recipe Holiday Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

  • in today's terms, this means you actually need 1/2 cup shortening and 1/2 cup soft butter. this is an old recipe.
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cup. sifted flour (i don''tsp sift mine)
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla
  2. Stir in – sifted dry ingredients, mixing well.
  3. Chill dough several hours.
  4. Preheat oven to 375.
  5. Roll out small portions on dough on lightly floured board to 1/8” thickness. Cut with floured 3” cutter.
  6. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle with colored sugars, nuts etc or frost after baking.
  8. Bake in 375 oven 10-12 min or until delicately browned. Cool on racks
  9. 5-6 dozen
