Ingredients:

  • 2 cups dates
  • 1 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup nuts (i use pecans because that's what my family likes)
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp soda

Directions:

  1. Cook and let cool the dates, hot water and lard (shortening)
  2. Add sugar, salt, egg vanilla and nuts, beat hard.
  3. Add flour and soda. Mix all together, form loafs and bake at 350 til done.
