Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 2 tsps vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup nuts (chopped )

Directions:

  1. Blend shortening, brown sugar, vanilla, salt and soda. Beat In one egg. Add sifted flour and nuts. Shape dough into several rolls. Wrap in floured waxed paper and chill In refrigerator. Slice thinly and bake on greased cookie sheet in 375 degree oven for 7-12 minutes.
