Cracked Peppercorn Parmesan Braid

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Place 1/2 cup warm water in large bowl and sprinkle in yeast and stir until dissolved.
  2. Add remaining water, sugar, pepper, salt and 1 cup flour then blend well.
  3. Stir in egg, egg yolk, chervil, parmesan cheese and enough flour to make soft dough. Knead on lightly floured board until smooth and elastic about 5 minutes.
  4. Place in greased bowl then turn and cover with towel.
  5. Allow to rise in warm area 45 minutes then punch dough.
  6. Remove dough to lightly floured board and divide into 3 equal pieces.
  7. Gently roll each piece to 12” rope then braid ropes and place on greased baking sheet.
  8. Pinch each end to seal then cover with towel and let rise in warm place 40 minutes.
  9. Brush loaf with egg white then sprinkle with cracked pepper and paprika.
  10. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes then sprinkle with more parmesan and remove from oven.
