Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb butter , 2 sticks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teasp. vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teasp. baking powder
  • 1/8 teasp salt

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
  2. Beat in egg and vanilla
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt
  4. Stir into butter mixture
  5. Chill well
  6. Roll out small portions at a time to slightly less than 1/8'' thick
  7. Cut out with cookie cutters
  8. Place 1' apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake at 350' for 10-12 mins or until edges are very lightly browned
  10. When cool let your imagination be your guide to decorating them
  11. Icing mix that I use is:
  12. 1 egg white, 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 teasp. water. vanilla optional
  13. Beat egg white until foamy. gradually add in the sugar. beat until smooth . beat in water 1 teasp at a time. you can add different food colorings in also.
