Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Melt the butter in a heavy 3-liter saucepan on low heat.
  2. Add the sugar, corn syrup and water; cook over medium heat.
  3. Stir constantly until it reaches hard crack stage, 300° on candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and the almonds.
  5. Spread into a buttered 13 x 9-inch pan.
  6. Let stand 5 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  8. When chocolate is melted, spread evenly over candy.
  9. Let cool completely, and when chocolate is set, break into pieces.
