Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped coconut

Directions:

  1. Sift together flour, salt and powder. cream shortening and sugar. Beat in egg, water and almond extract. Add sifted ingredients and coconut to creamed mixture. (it may be necessary to knead the dough a few times to mix thoroughly) shape into balls, using a rounded teaspoon of dough for each. Place on cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of a glass. Top with almond 1/2. bake 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
