Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 21 oz can of cherry pie filling
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of almond extract
  • 1 to 2 tbsp of milk

Directions:

  1. Cream together sugar, butter and vanilla.
  2. Add eggs one at a time.
  3. Add flour gradually.
  4. Pour 2/3 of the batter in greased 11 x 15 jelly roll pan.
  5. Spread cherry filling over batter.
  6. Add remaining batter by dropping spoonfuls on top of the cherry mixture.
  7. Bake at 350. for 25-35 minutes.
  8. Make icing by mixing the icing ingredients well.
  9. Drizzle over cooled baked cherry bars.
