Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening and cheese until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  2. Add milk, stirring until moistened.
  3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 3 to 4 times.
  4. Roll dough to 3/4 inch thick, cut into rounds with a 2 inch cutter.
  5. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet, bake at 450 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Serve with garlic butter. Makes about 1-1/2 dozen
