Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp yoghurt

Directions:

  1. In a bowl take some warm water.
  2. Sprinkle yeast and sugar over it.
  3. Keep aside for 5 minutes or till frothy.
  4. Take a large plate.
  5. Mix salt and flour in it.
  6. Make a well in the center.
  7. Add yoghurt in the well.
  8. Sprinkle baking soda over yoghurt.
  9. Allow to stand for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Pour oil and yeast solution in the well.
  11. Mix gradually.
  12. Use milk as required to make a soft- stiff dough.
  13. Brush dough with oil.
  14. Cover with an inverted bowl.
  15. Keep aside for 4 hours or longer if the weather is cold.
  16. Grease palms well and punch dough till soft and elastic.
  17. Cover again.
  18. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
  19. Break off a lump of dough.
  20. Roll or pat into a thick round (about 6 in diameter).
  21. Rost on a hot griddle till golden spots appear or shallow fry on griddle.
  22. Serve hot with gravied vegetables, Indian dals, etc.
