Ingredients:

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet
  2. Add the onion and saute
  3. Stir for about 12 minutes till golden brown.
  4. Stir in the garlic and saute roughly for about one minute
  5. Add the rice and cumin and saute for about one minute
  6. Make the sure the rice is coated with oil
  7. Add carrot, apple, ginger, broth, salt and heat to a boil. Cook covered over medium heat
  8. For about 15 minutes and the rice is tender Do not stir the pilaf once it begins to cook..
  9. Let the rice stand covered off heat for five minutes.
  10. After the rice has stood off the heat you can then serve.
  11. Spoon into a serving dish and sprinkle with walnuts and the dish is yum..
  12. You can also add chopped celery and fresh parsely and a sprtiz of fresh lemon.
