Ingredients:

  • 1 lb carrots , pealed and cut into approximately 1/2 inch long pieces.
  • 1 lb turnips pealed and cut into approximately 1/2 inch cubes.
  • 1/2 stick butter

Directions:

  1. Place carrots and turnips in a pot and cover with water.
  2. Cover and bring to a boil, cook until soft, about 30 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and drain.
  4. Add butter and mash with a potato masher until the consistency of lumpy mashed potatoes.
  5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve hot.
