Buttermilk Layer Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/3 cups cake flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 12 tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 9- inch. cake pans

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease pans and set aside
  3. Sift together cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt
  4. In separate small bowl whisk together eggs and vanilla
  5. Beat butter until creamy
  6. Over course of 3 minutes, beat sugar in with butter
  7. Over course of 2 minutes, mix in egg and vanilla mixture
  8. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk in three parts
  9. Divide batter between pans and smooth tops
  10. Bake 25-30 minutes until golden brown and toothpick in center comes out clean
  11. Cool for 10 minutes, than unload on cooling rack. Cool completely before frosting
