Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups milk

Directions:

  1. Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until mealy.
  2. Add water.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Roll dough out on floured board to 1/4-inch thickness.
  5. Spread with butter and 1 cup of the sugar.
  6. Roll dough up like a jelly roll.
  7. Cut into 1-1/2-inch thickness as for cinnamon rolls.
  8. Put into greased pan.
  9. Bake at 350 degrees F about 20-25 min.
  10. When done, combine 2 cups milk with remaining 1 cup of sugar and vanilla.
  11. Bring to a boil.
  12. Pour over rolls.
  13. Return to oven and bake about 7 minutes longer.
