Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • peanuts , halves or cashews

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Blend in chocolate syrup.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  4. Blend in vanilla.
  5. Combine flour, powder and salt.
  6. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to chocolate mixture, beating well.
  7. Cover and chill one hour.
  8. Drop batter by heaping teaspoonsful onto a greased baking sheet.
  9. Press 4 peanut halves or cashews into each cookie, to resemble a bear's paw.
  10. Bake at 375* for 10 to 12 minutes or until center springs back when lightly touched.
  11. Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes and transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
