Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 3/4 to 1 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; stir well. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle milk evenly over flour mixture, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 to 12 times.
  2. Pat dough out to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 12 minutes or until tops are lightly browned.
