Aunt Collie's Soft Biscotti

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup crisco shortening or 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tsp anise extract , to taste
  • 4 tbsp water (aproximately)

Directions:

  1. Cream together the sugar and crisco.
  2. Add eggs and mix well.
  3. Add Anise (or lemon) extract, salt, baking powder and milk.
  4. Add flour 1/2 cup at-a-time and mix together.
  5. Grease a cookie sheet and, using a large soup spoon, make a line of dough.
  6. Smooth dough to connect each mound to make one loaf.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees till lightly browned.
  8. Approximately 15 minutes.
  9. Frosting:.
  10. Mix all ingredients together.
  11. Frosting should not be thin, nor thick, but an oozing consistency.
