Applesauce French Toast With Praline Syrup

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Whisk eggs, sugar, and half and half together in large bowl.
  2. Stir in applesauce, pecans, vanilla, and 1/2 cup pecans.
  3. Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter or margarine.
  4. Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side.
  5. Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.
  6. Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown.
  7. Turn and brown the other side.
  8. Place on individual (warmed)plates or on serving platter.
  9. Top with syrup, whipped cream and extra pecans.
  10. If you want a crunchy topping: Sprinkle top of toast with a little dark brown sugar and place under broiler for a minute or two or until sugar cooks then top with syrup and whipped cream,
  11. Syrup:
  12. In heavy saucepan, melt butter.
  13. Stir in sugars and cook over med. low heat, stirring often.
  14. Slowly stir in half and half and continue to cook 2 to 3 minutes.
