  1. Cream butter in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg; mix well. Combine soda and applesauce in a small mixing bowl. Stir into creamed mixture.
  2. Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small mixing bowl; stir into creamed mixture. Fold in raisins and pecans.
  3. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls 3 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets, and cool on wire racks.
