Directions:

  1. In a food processor, combine flour, butter, salt and water. Pulse until coarse crumbles form.
  2. Divide dough into 3 equal portions and flatten into disks. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°F and prepare apples.
  4. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and pecans.
  5. Take dough from refrigerator and roll out into 9 -10 rounds.
  6. Place half of an apple in the center of the dough and top with 1/3 of the brown sugar mixture. Place the other apple half on top.
  7. Pull the dough up and around the apple to cover and pinch seams to close.
  8. Place apples on a lightly greased baking dish, seam side down, and brush tops with butter.
  9. If desired, press course sugar granules lightly into the tops of the dumplings.
  10. Bake for about 50 minutes.
  11. Serve warm with a side of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
