Ingredients:

  • for cakes
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • for filling
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup shortening
  • 4 tbsp flour

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, ad eggs. Add flour and the rest of the dry ingredients.
  2. Theadd molasses, milk and vanilla.
  3. Bake 350 degrees 8-1- minutes
  4. For filing:
  5. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add vanilla, flour and milk. Beat well and add shortening and sugar.
  6. Place cream filling between two cookies.
