Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. *Garlic Cayenne paste: 4 cloves of garlic pulverized, 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (more if you want), 1 teaspoon ground cumin mashed into the garlic. It helps to put a little sea or kosher salt in to act as an abrasive.
  2. Boil water and add dal.
  3. Bring back to boil, uncover, and simmer at low heat for 30 minutes.
  4. Add spices and garlic paste, and yogurt whisked with 1/2 cup water.
  5. After 15 more minutes take a fork and whisk the mixture pureeing some of
  6. The lentils; and the lemon juice, cook 10 to 15 more minutes.
  7. Adjust salt and seasonings to taste, garnish with cilantro. Serve with naan bread or over rice, yuuuuuum!
