Tropical Rice In The Rice Cooker

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in medium frying pan. Put in onions and peppers and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Saute until tender.
  2. Add garlic and saute for about another minute.
  3. Add the raw rice and toss together. Saute for about 4 minutes. The rice gets somewhat opaque looking.
  4. Put rice mixture into the rice cooker.
  5. Add the liquid to the 4 line; set to cook.
  6. You should have around 2 cups of liquid left.
  7. Make gravy: In small saucepan, combine the 2 cups of liquid with the 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Simmer until thickened.
  8. Note: I would think you could make on the stove top. Just be careful to keep at low simmer so you don't burn the rice - I would think with the sugar content it would be possible.
