Traditional Buttermilk Pralines

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1-1/2 cups pecans

Directions:

  1. Combine sugar, buttermilk, corn syrup, baking soda and salt in a large sauce pan and boil until candy thermometer reading is 238 stirring frequently.
  2. Remove from heat then add butter, vanilla and pecans.
  3. Beat until right consistency to drop from spoon onto wax paper.
  4. It thickens quickly so work fast.
