Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup molasses, (i use grandma's)
  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 1-1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

  1. In large bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, eggs, and molasses
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, soda, baking powder, spices
  3. Add to butter, molasses mixture, mixing well
  4. Add cup of boiling water, hand mixing while pouring
  5. Mix well
  6. Pour into a greased and floured 9 X 13 X 2 pan
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25-35 minutes, testing with toothpick
  8. Cool in pan
  9. Cut in squares and serve with lemon sauce or sweetened whipped cream
  10. DELICIOUS!
