Spicy Raisin Drop Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp clove
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Sift flour with soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves and set aside.
  2. In large bowl, beat shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  3. At low speed, beat in flour until well mixed.
  4. Stir in raisins and walnuts.
  5. Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°.
  7. Lightly grease cookie sheets.
  8. Drop batter by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart onto cookie sheets.
  9. Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
  10. Cool partially on wire rack, then glaze tops.
  11. For glaze, combine sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.
