Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg yolks, one at a time.
  4. Mix in 1/2 cup of walnuts, rind, and anise extract.
  5. Add flour and sherry alternately, beginning and ending with flour.
  6. Spread the remaining walnuts on a plate.
  7. Drop 1-inch balls of dough into the nuts, roll, and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  9. For holiday cookies, press a sliver of candied cherry into the center of each cookie before baking.
