Pear Ginger Scones

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup pear, chopped
  • 4 -5 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and ginger and cut in the butter with a fork until mixture looks like fine crumbs.
  3. Stir in cereal.
  4. Stir in pear, egg whites and just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl.
  5. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead lightly 10 times.
  6. Roll dough into to a circle, 1/2 inch thick and cut into wedges with a knife dipped in flour.
  7. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Brush with milk.
  9. Bake about 16 minutes or until golden.
  10. Remove from cookie sheet and serve warm.
