Directions:

  1. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add peanut butter and egg; beat well.
  2. Combine flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves; add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Pour batter into a greased 8-inch square pan. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes, and cut into squares.
