Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup wesson oil
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 4 tbsp cocoa
  • 6 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 (1 lb) box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Cream oil, sugar and cocoa.
  2. Add eggs.
  3. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  4. Add soda and salt. Add vanilla to hot water and fold water into cake. Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until done.
  5. Icing For Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake: Bring margarine, cocoa and whole milk to boil.
  6. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  7. Mix until smooth and of spreading consistency.
  8. This is my favorite chocolate cake.
