  1. Prep time includes chill time for the dough
  2. Make one recipe of pastry (2 cup flour)
  3. Roll out thin on lightly floured pastry cloth
  4. Cut in 4 inch rounds use saucer and cut around with a sharp knife.
  5. Put 2 heaping tablespoons of strawberry preserves, raspberry jam, or apricot jam or applesauce in the center of each round.
  6. Brush edges with cold water.
  7. Now fold over to make a turnover.
  8. Be sure to press edges very firmly together sealing with tines of a fork.
  9. Fry a few at a time in hot deep fat (375) until golden brown.
  10. Drain on paper towels and dust with 4x sugar.
