Mom's Christmas Shortbread

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Beat butter 10 minutes.
  2. Continue beating while slowly adding cornstarch, then sugar, then flour, then vanilla.
  3. Roll into balls.
  4. Place on baking tray.
  5. Flatten with the bottom of a glass, using flour to stop from sticking.
  6. Top each cookie with a quarter cherry.
  7. Bake at 325F for 8-10 minutes to just before brown.
