Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup soy milk
  • 1 oz butter
  • 1 oz sugar
  • 1/4 oz dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/3 tsp matcha
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Directions:

  1. Warm the milk, add the butter, and stir until it melts. Add the sugar and let the mixture cool down to body temperature.
  2. Add the dry yeast and stir. Leave for about 5 minutes until it begins to bubble.
  3. Combine the flour, salt, and matcha, and sift into a mixing bowl. Slowly pouring in the milk and yeast mixture and knead into dough.
  4. Cover the dough with a kitchen cloth and leave to rise in a warm place for about 40 minutes.
  5. When the dough tripples in size, divide into 8 portions and leave to rise for another 30 minutes again.
  6. Preheat oven to 360 degrees.
  7. Shape the dough into round balls. Place on a baking sheet and leave for 20 minutes to rise for the third time.
  8. Using your fingertips, wet the top of the dough with a little water, and sprinle with sesame seeds and tea leaves, or any dried herb. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
