Ingredients:

  • 125 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 -2 tbsp hot water
  • food coloring (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190c/375f/gas mark 5.
  2. Beat the butter and sugar til fluffy then beat the egg in bit by bit.
  3. Sift in the flour, salt and spice.
  4. Mix well and make a ball of firm dough.
  5. Roll the dough out until 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Cut dough into shapes.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Mix the icing sugar and hot water until smooth.
  9. Colour if necessary.
  10. Spread onto biscuits.
