  1. Melt chocolate and butter in top of a double boiler over boiling water. Add sugar and milk; mix until well blended. Cook over simmering water, stirring occasionally, 2 hours or until sauce thickens and is smooth. Stir in vanilla. Serve warm over ice cream, pound cake, or fruit. Store in covered jars in refrigerator.
