Ingredients:

  • 1 (2 1/4 tsp) package active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oleo, melted
  • 2 3/4-3 1/4 cups flour
  • salad oil (for deep frying)

Directions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water; add sugar, salt, oleo and egg. Stir in enough flour to make soft dough. On lightly floured surface, knead dough for several minutes and let rise until double in bulk, about 20 to 30 minutes.
  2. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness; cut into 2 inch squares. Drop into hot 350 to 360 degree oil and fry briefly until brown. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Serve with honey.
