Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • green, pink, or purple edible cake sprinkles or colored sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. In mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the granulated sugar; beat until combined, scraping bowl.
  4. Beat in water and vanilla until combined.
  5. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with mixer; stir in remaining flour and chopped nuts.
  6. Shape dough into 1 inch balls.
  7. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until bottoms are lightly brown.
  9. Cool on rack.
  10. In each of 3 bowls combine 1/3 cup of the sifted powdered sugar or the edible cake sparkles.
  11. Gently roll and shake cooled cookies in desired powdered sugar mixture.
  12. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
  13. The pale colors are so pretty.
