Ingredients:

  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 5 cups flour , sifted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

Directions:

  1. Dessolve yeast in warm water
  2. Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix with electric mixer
  3. When batter is climbing up the beaters stop mixing ( another one of Vovoa's interesting directions)
  4. Make sure that all of the flour is mixed in.
  5. Cover and let stand in a warm place for 30 minutes
  6. Drop by table spoonfuls into a deep fryer set on high
  7. Turn the do-nuts once before removing
  8. When browned on both sides remove and drain off excess oil
  9. Shake do-nuts in a bag with 1 cup of sugar enjoy
  10. You can also shake them in a bag of cinnamon and sugar or powder sugar
