Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • frosting (of your choice)

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Beat in extracts.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  5. Pour into two greased and floured 8-in round baking pans.
  6. Bake at 350 for 30-35 mins or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Frost between layers and top and sides of cake.
  9. Decorate with chocolate coins if desired.
