Easy Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar , packed
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening and brown sugar together.
  2. Add molasses, buttermilk, and eggs.
  3. Blend well and set aside.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl, sift flour, ginger, baking soda and salt together.
  5. Combine this mixture into buttermilk mixture.
  6. Mix well, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.
  9. Sprinkle with sugar.
  10. Bake at 400º for 10 to 12 minutes.
